How to Colour Up Your Bathroom

It is possible to transform a bathroom and add originality and interest with the right use of colour – and it doesn’t have to break the bank! Annette Dasey of Ninemsn explained how.

Manchester: Very often, just a splash of colour will improve the look and atmosphere of one of the most used rooms of the home. Consider changing the shade of your towels if you’re bored of your bathroom’s look – it’s quick, cheap and very effective.

Paint: In one-tone bathrooms, a new coat of paint in a brilliant colour can really update the space. For example, a duck-egg blue can look incredible in a bathroom with walls painted in a neutral tone. Or if you don’t want to paint everything, just have a coloured feature wall.

Rugs: Apart from feeling great under your bare feet, rugs can come in interesting patterns and colours to give your bathroom an instant facelift.

Tiles: Don’t forget that you could re-do the tiles in the bathroom too. Coloured tiles in feature walls or shower recesses can look particularly nice.

Shower curtains: If your bathroom allows, changing your old shower curtain to something fun and colourful can completely alter the look of your bathroom.

Accessories: For a less permanent colour change, try bright toothbrush holders, hampers, baskets, soaps, vases, candles and other accessories.
